Museum of the Soundscape
The museum is located in Riva presso Chieri in Piazza Parrocchia. The itinerary is divided into various thematic rooms. “Sala ‘900”, a chest for the iconographic local memory of the past century, the 20th Century, is a rich photography exhibition that displays and presents to the visitors the themes of the Soundscape of the territory : the countryside, the work, the festivals, the rituals, the gathering moments and the music. Ephemeral earthen or animal-derived tools lead visitors to the Wood: an abstract, imaginative itinerary dominated by the sound. “Sala Campane”, the hall of the bells and the processional floats, is dedicated to the bell tradition and the tools of the Holy Week. In the middle of the hall there is an installation having a special keyboard that enables visitors to reproduce the sound of the bells of the bell tower of Riva presso Chieri. In “Sala dei Musicanti” you can taste the rhythm of the festival, enlivened by the musicians. Some reproductions represent “characters” of Riva and its territory dancing or playing musical instruments. The visit ends with “Sala della Transizione”, pulsating with sounds of the new century.
