The Egyptian Museum is located in the heart of Turin, on Via Accademia delle Scienze 6, and is composed of many collections that overlapped over the years, and the findings of the excavations in Egypt of the Italian Archaeological Mission between 1900 and 1935. At that time archaeological findings were shared between Egypt and the archaeological missions, but now the current standard is that the findings should remain in Egypt. As the Egyptian Museum of Cairo, it is dedicated exclusively to the art and culture of Ancient Egypt. Many internationally renowned scholars, such as the decipherer of Egyptian hieroglyphs Jean-François Champollion, who arrived in Turin in 1824, devote themselves to study its collections, as confirmation of what Champollion wrote: “The road to Memphis and Thebes passes through Turin”.
